7 months and just got second fill

Hey everyone,

Yes, it's been FOREVER since I've posted, but my band experience has been in slow motion since surgery 12/8.

Infections, weird complications, you name it.

Anyway, finally got my second fill yesterday afternoon (first fill was first week of March). I sat and drank two cups of water (slowly) before I left the surgeon's office, and last night I had some tomato soup without any problems.

Today is different. This morning it took me about an hour two drink an 8 ounce protein shake, got through another half of one for lunch, I have been working on a mug of SF hot chocolate for the last hour. It's still half full.

Do I just wait this out, hoping it will get easier, or is the band too tight? Any opinions please!

And my ticker is way outdated, I need to fix it.

THANK YOU!
Stacy

Sip your liquids for a day or two...maybe even 3.
Let your band make the decisions.  It WILL loosen up as more weight comes off.  With the AP band the protocol is supposed to be 2 days of liquids following a fill.  Go SLOOOOOWWW.  Hot liquids...tea, coffee, soup.  That helps the band loosen.  Over the next couple of days, if you have REFLUX or gurgling UP HIGH...like above your boobs...you are too tight.  Don't sweat it unless you CAN'T swallow.  Then it's serious.

Welcome to the SIPPING club.  From this point on you won't be able to power down liquids...no more gulping a quick drink when you're thirsty and hot(I sooooo miss guzzling ice water in this heat).

As you take a drink...exhale.  Exhale your air before you swallow.  It helps.  It's hard.  I still have to consciously think about doing it.

Call me if you are worried.  I'll talk ya down.

Thanks, sis!

I was able to drink the water with pretty much no problem right after my fill yesterday, so today has me a little surprised.

I am trying to sip some tomato soup now but it's not going down so easily. It is going down though, and I already have the hiccups. I've only had about 1/4 of it so far.

Right now I am just wondering how I am EVER going to be able to eat solid food again!

Love ya!

You are swollen from having your band adjusted.  That's why you are supposed to do liquids for two days(minimum).  Your body/stomach has to adjust itself and accept the change.  Seems like a little thing but it throws your system for a couple of days.  It will get better and you will eat again.  Not nearly as much as Wednesday...I promise.  You'll get full now on a breast of chicken or LESS...without having any veggies or starches.  Eat your protein FIRST.  Don't let yourself get full on anything else.  When your amount is cut down so far the protein is the key to everything.

After two days of liquids you need to transition slowly to regular solids by doing a day of mushies.  It ain't fun, but it's ABSOLUTELY worth all the rewards coming your way!
